Disney shareholders rebel against woke business practices
I can honestly say I’ve never heard anything like yesterday’s Disney Shareholder call, when a half dozen shareholders openly rebelled against the company’s woke business practices.
Two shareholders offered proposals demanding more oversight and accountability, including disclosing the details of the company’s relationship with China and disclosing any charitable recipient to whom the company donates $10,000 or more to see what political organizations they are supporting.
Disney, predictably, did not agree with these proposals and encourages shareholders to vote against them.
We also learned that Disney is at least partially funded by the Educational Foundation of America, an organization promoting “Progressive Change Through Support For Creative Initiatives Working Toward Sustainability, Justice, And Equity.” No wonder Disney went woke.
But the real fireworks came in the Q&A when multiple shareholders laid into CEO Bob Iger regarding Disney’s dabbling into politics. Iger’s response seemed to throw fuel of the fire of their ongoing feud with the state of Florida.
If every shareholder of every public company held those organizations’ feet to the fire like we saw today with Disney, there would be no more woke nonsense in the corporate space.
